WoW – The Warlock’s Tutorial

This WoW warlock guide will explain to everyone the key benefits of playing this character class. The warlock focuses primarily on DoT’s, shadow bolts, and commanding demons. They are adept necromancers that deal in misery and agony. Though warlocks can’t stand toe to toe in a melee fight, they more than make up for it by hurling damaging spells from a distance.

A lot of talents depend on the use of soul shards, which warlocks have to acquire from slaying enemies. The warlock is one of the fastest characters to level and truly shines when playing solo. When raiding, warlocks can do huge amounts of damage and need to be careful not to draw aggro away from the tank.

The races races that can become warlocks are Blood Elves, Humans, Undead, Gnomes, and Orcs. The only kind of armor a warlock may wear is of the cloth variety. They can use only wands, staves, swords and daggers as weapons.

Warlocks are best known for their ability to summon and control a variety of demonic minions including Imps, Voidwalkers, Succubi, Felhunters, Infernals, Doomguards, and Felguards. All of the various minions can be useful, but you will need to measure the strong suits of each of them for the task at hand.

Warlocks have a wide array of spells at their disposal including damage over time spells (DoT’s), direct damage spells (DD’s), and several utility spells. They can use soul shards in order to produce a variety of items and also to resurrect other players. They also have some limited self healing ability when using drain life, and some crowd control talents as well. Warlocks can also acquire their Felsteed and Dreadsteed mounts at a much lower cost than most other classes since they are summoned with spells, not directly purchased.

The Affliction talent specialization is geared toward enhancing curses, drains and damage over time spells. This spec is good for raiding, boss killing, and farming. Affliction is generally acknowledged as being the best leveling spec for the warlock class.

Demonology talents are designed to make summoned demonic minions more powerful and more useful, as well as improving conjuring spells and giving you better passive bonuses. This is a good specialization for leveling, PvP, and general survivability. This spec can be utilized at lower levels to make up for the absence of good spell damage gear.

The Destruction spec uses talents that increase the effectiveness of the warlock’s fire and shadow spells, which are mainly direct damage spells that can be used to quickly take out one enemy. This spec is not as effective as the other specs at the early levels. It requires a lot of soul shards, is not mana efficient, and it is hard to use effectively for people who wish to play by themselves.
